VIDEO: YouTube funny channel 'China Uncensored' takes on Kenny G’s Hong Kong gaffe

The more we see of China Uncensored, the more we feel they’re our YouTube soul mates. Just as we’ve been obsessing over “Kenny G-gate” (we don’t know if you’ve noticed), they release this hilarious take on the whole kerfuffle, delivered with punch and poise as usual by the king of deadpan, Chris Chappell.

Beginning the eight-minute satirical bulletin by visibly cringing as he holds up an “I ‘heart’ Kenny G” poster, Chris tells us how we now have to like the “Sultan of Smooth Jazz” since he Tweeted a photo of himself at the Hong Kong protest site last week flashing the ‘V’ sign, “which means victory, or peace, or, I’m an Asian person in front of a camera”. Lol.

He also explains how “Kenny G is somehow hugely popular in China, which shows what kind of awful things happen when the Communist Party destroys your traditional culture.”

Suddenly, Chris receives the “breaking news” that Kenny G has denied having any sympathies with the protesters. Following Kenny's profuse grovelling on social media in the wake of China’s criticism of him seemingly supporting the Hong Kong protesters, the saxophonist has been ridiculed by many. China Uncensored is, of course, no exception:

“If I was a more cynical person, I’d say Kenny G is back-peddling furiously because he was spooked by the Chinese government’s response to his visit and doesn’t want to get blacklisted from performing in China.
Referring to the undeniable connections between the fall of the Berlin Wall and David “The Hoff” Hasslehoff’s “Looking for Freedom” single, and a recent op-ed in the Chinese press about how Canadian band Nickelback are encouraging children to revolt, Chris admits that China’s concerns could well be legitimate.

“When it comes to overthrowing authoritarian regimes, never underestimate the power of terrible music from cheesy musicians.”
Gleefully tearing up his “I ‘heart’ Kenny G” sign at the end of the clip, Chris proclaims, “I guess in an attempt not to offend anybody, he [Kenny G] ended up offending everybody. At least that means I don’t have to like him anymore.”

Yep, we’re secretly quite pleased about that too. Every protest needs a villain, and CY Leung just doesn’t have the hair for it.
