The Hong Kong University's Alumni Concern Group and Academic Staff Association is holding a campus-wide referendum next week for students, teachers and staff to vote on whether they agree with the university council's rejection of Johannes Chan's appointment as pro-vice chancellor.
The vote would also ask if the participants have confidence in council members who rejected the search committee's recommendation, and whether executive councillor, Arthur Li, is suitable to take over as the council chairman.
Mak Tung-wing, deputy convenor of the alumni concern group said the aim of the referendum is to show the collective opinions of all stakeholders in the university.
