Barrister and Civic Party lawmaker, Dennis Kwok, says the scope of the interim injunction obtained by the University of Hong Kong against Commercial Radio is so wide it limits press freedom and the public's right to know.

The injunction was issued last week to stop the station and other organisations from disclosing leaked contents of the university council's closed-door meeting - when members voted down the appointment of pro-democracy scholar, Johannes Chan, for a key managerial post.

"This is not a private matter. The Hong Kong U is a public institution and the public interest is clear," he said. "The public has a right to know what is happening in one of the most important public institutions in Hong Kong and the way it makes decisions."

Kwok also said the way the injunction is drafted is unclear.
