The World Cup qualifier match between the Maldives and Hong Kong will be played in Male as planned.

The Maldives Football Association said on its website that the world's football governing body, Fifa, decided next Thursday's game will be played in the Maldives' capital, despite the political turmoil there.

Hong Kong's Football Association had expressed concerns, and preferred the game to be played in the SAR instead.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong squad are preparing for Saturday night's friendly match against Myanmar at Mong Kok Stadium. Midfielder Huang Yang is expected to sit out with an ankle injury.
