Let me introduce you to one of the worst culprits

109

Chong Long

It is time to publicly name and shame some of the Hong Kong police who have disgraced their uniform – let me introduce you to one of the worst culprits – Paul Edmiston (Commander Police Tactical Unit Delta Company).

Hopefully this public naming and shaming of those police who order, take part in and condone the use of excessive force, or who have even acted criminally in their actions, will lead to their friends and family putting pressure on him to either resign from his post, or for him to think more consciously about his excessively violent posture and actions against the good people of Hong Kong, while ignoring the criminal actions of those who attack us (including triads).

However, it is also important to take into account that many fellow officers do not behave in such a way, and they should be commended – as we need the decent police to continue acting with restraint and civility – whilst we try and remove the dark elements in their ranks.

In particular, Paul Edmiston is one of those dark elements that needs to be forced to retire or resign, or even be charged with criminal misconduct, as he commanded the police attack on Lung Wo Road on Tuesday night.

Here is his facebook account:

Paul commanded the police that attacked the students with pepper spray, batons drawn and shields, against the young students who only held umbrellas or nothing at all – despite the peaceful protesters having their arms raised in passive submission.

When I told Paul, a left-over from before the handover, that he should be ashamed of himself, he threatened me by saying I was on camera, while I replied that so was he, and that I was a free person exercising my right to peacefully protest.

Paul also refused to give me his police identification number, but he did tell me he was the Commander of Delta Company. Thanks for that snippet of information Paul. It's interesting what you can find with a little intelligent googling.

Paul has also publicly said that it is standard protocol in situations such as these to carry pepper spray. I beg to differ, it is only correct to use reasonable force and methods against protesters, and certainly not standard protocol to pepper spray non-violent protest.

Paul Edmiston has been in the HK Police Force for 25 years, and I think it is high time he was made to retire as he is not here to protect and serve the people, but to brutally repress them.

Hong Kong is facing police corruption, abuse of power, lack of accountability, and the erosion of our strong rule of law – it's time to take back our city from those that are destroying it.

Paul is one of those responsible for the break down of the rule of law, when he is meant to apply it. He is helping to undermine the rule of law, judiciary independence, separation of power, representative government, freedom of press/speech, and peaceable assembly – rather than protecting it.

Here is a photo of Paul Edmiston, so you can recognise him if you see him, now please help us to either rein in this 'Communist dog', before his violent conduct and those that he has power over escalates.
