The pan-democrats will urge the government to come up with a comprehensive plan to handle the lead-water scandal, and address the anxieties of those affected by it.
The 27 lawmakers will do so at a special meeting of Legco's House Committee on September 1, which will be attended by the Chief Secretary and bureau and department heads.
Civic Party leader Alan Leong said the pan-democrats were of the view that it has already taken the government far too long to come up with a strategy.
On Monday, Democratic Party lawmaker Helena Wong demanded that the government test water in all schools after drinking water at a primary school in Sham Shui Po was found to contain excessive lead.
But the Secretary for Education Eddie Ng on Tuesday sidestepped the demand, saying the focus will be on housing estates first. He said a government cross-departmental group will discuss the issue on Thursday.
