A Hong Kong handyman with spiderman delusions

By Coconuts Hong Kong November 4, 2015 /15:47 HKT

Hong Kong has a new super hero, and his super power is stupidity.

A woman living at Horizon Suites in Ma On Shan sent a photograph of a workman – seemingly balancing on disused air-conditioner brackets outside a 10th floor flat – to Apple Daily yesterday.

The man, who was performing some sort of repairs to the outside of the high-rise, does not seem to be wearing a harness and appears to be connected to the building only by a flimsy piece of string and a no doubt vice-like grip on the air-conditioner next to him.

The woman who took the photo understandably said the sight made her very nervous. Best way to deal with nerves? Take a photo of the offending object and tell the press all about it.

Chan Kam-hong of the Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims said the man’s actions were both ridiculous and illegal, noting that a piece of string is inadequate to take the weight of an adult man, as are air-con brackets.

By law, workers performing duties at a height in Hong Kong are required to wear a harness and use a platform. This guy was wearing red gloves though, probably made out of Spidey suit material.
