Hong Kong has signed a new trade pact with the mainland that will give virtually the entire services trade here preferential treatment throughout the country.
Financial Secretary, John Tsang, and Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen signed the latest accord of the Closer Economic Partnership Agreement in Hong Kong on Friday morning.
Terms of the agreement will be implemented from June. It will further enhance a previous agreement signed last year with Guangdong province which will now be expanded to the entire country. In a statement, the government said the pact will "basically achieve" full liberalisation of trade in services between Hong Kong and the mainland.
