Two members of the teaching staff at the University of Hong Kong, who recently took part in protests against the decision not to give a pro-democracy scholar a top managerial post, have been elected to the institution's governing body.
Professor Joseph Chan from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Professor Timothy O'Leary from the Faculty of Arts both took part in a rally last month over the university council’s refusal to make Professor Johannes Chan a pro-vice chancellor.
Meanwhile, Dr Cheung Kie-chung from the Faculty of Engineering has been re-elected to the HKU Council.
