The Chief Executive, CY Leung, has rejected a report by a US congressional commission that said Hong Kong is facing an erosion of press freedom.

Speaking after returning from the APEC summit in Manila, Leung said press freedom in the city is being protected and the media industry is vibrant and fearless.

Earlier, the government said other countries shouldn't interfere in the territory's internal affairs.

A report by the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, whose members visited Hong Kong in July, noted an increase in the number of attacks on journalists and media executives in the territory and increasing self-censorship.
