A 40-year-old woman is awaiting sentencing after admitting in court that she asked her daughter, who was 13 at the time, to have sex with the son of a rich man.
The mother told her daughter to agree to the indecent proposal in order to get a credit card from him, Ming Pao Daily reported on Wednesday.
The mother has been charged with attempting to procure a female under the age of 21 in an unlawful sexual act.
She said she learned of the proposal through her 39-year-old boyfriend, who was a tutor to the rich man’s son.
The mother said her boyfriend could help the daughter “practice in a painless way” as his private parts were small.
She continued to pressure her daughter to agree even after the latter refused. She said it would be stupid of her daughter not to agree and make money.
The mother argued that her daughter would have sex with a male partner sooner or later so having sex with the rich man’s son was no big deal.
The daughter disagreed with her mother’s reasoning and asked to be left alone.
The next morning, the mother kept repeating “fuerdai” (the second generation of a rich family) to her daughter’s ears.
At school, the daughter related the incident to a social worker after discussing her situation with classmates.
The daughter was born in 2001, and her family came to Hong Kong from the mainland in 2003.
The parents divorced in 2009, and the mother has been living in a public housing estate with her daughter since.
The mother met her boyfriend last May and the man moved in to live with them the following month.
In her testimony via a video interview at the District Court on Tuesday, the daughter described her mother and her boyfriend as “carefree lovers”, who would have sex three times a week and often right in front of her.
The boyfriend, surnamed Lee, was also charged with criminal intimidation and indecent assault on the daughter. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The daughter said her mother’s boyfriend claimed he had studied at Princeton University and raped two women in the United States.
She also said her mother allowed him to kiss her forehead even though she refused.
She said he always complimented her, telling her she was cute, and threatened to rape her when she reached 16.
However, her mother told her “it was just a joke.”
The trial continues.
