A computer student has been given 18 months’ probation for launching cyber attacks on a public library website during the Occupy Movement protests.
Sun Tak-fah earlier pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal damage.
In passing sentence, the Eastern Court ordered the defendant not to take part in unlawful assemblies or post inciting messages online as part of his probation conditions.
The 23-year-old had sent out the attacks – once around 7,000 hits within minutes – through a hacker group's link on social media, and caused the library website to run slower, or even malfunction for more than an hour on one occasion.
