It’s your usual public playground, complete with a seven-a-side football pitch and a basketball court.
But there’s a problem.
You can’t play football or basketball in it, according to a notice from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).
Netizens who were quick to spot the contradiction, snapped the sign in the North Point Service Reservoir Playground and posted the photo on social media where it quickly went viral, news website hk01.com reports.
LCSD has yet to respond to media inquiries about the peculiar notice.
A netizen named Barry Kwong said LCSD might as well prohibit swimming in swimming pools, parking in car parks and reading in libraries.
Fellow netizen Kanhaiya Cheng said the incident could make Hong Kong an international laughing stock.
And yet another netizen, Jacky Ng, tried to put a spin on it, saying the notice was intended to prohibit basketball on a football pitch and vice versa.
Last year, citizens complained about banners outside Hong Kong Velodrome Park in Tseung Kwan O that said no cycling is allowed.
