The MTR Corporation is being urged to extend a new permit scheme for musical instruments to include large items of sports equipment as well.
Culture and sports sector legislator Ma Fung-kwok said while the railway company promptly responded to complaints from musicians about size restrictions on instruments, the sports community was unhappy that it had been left out of a four-month trial registration scheme.
Speaking on RTHK's “Letter to Hong Kong”, Ma said many items of sports equipment fall foul of MTR baggage restriction rules, including snooker cues, golf clubs and canoe paddles.
