Terrified passengers on board a bus travelling from Hong Kong airport were pelted with shards of broken glass after its windows were smashed in a horror crash.

The E33 Long Win bus was travelling along the Lantau Link towards Tsing Yi when it crashed into the railings near a toll booth.

Shocking video footage shared on Facebook of the accident’s aftermath showed passengers sitting in a sea of broken glass.

The footage had been viewed more than 25,000 times by Thursday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for Hong Kong police said three people were taken to Princess Margaret Hospital following the crash just before 2.25pm on Wednesday.

She said the bus driver was not arrested over the accident and no other vehicles were involved.

Last month a woman had a lucky escape after she fell through the glass door of a double-decker bus.

She was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
