Dr Kwok Kai-ki
Civic Party lawmaker Kwok Ka-ki says Hong Kong's competitive advantage lies in its press freedom, the rule of law and lack of corruption.
He said these core values make Hong Kong different from major cities on the mainland, and people here are concerned that they are being eroded.
Speaking on RTHK's 'Letter to Hong Kong', Dr Kwok said he disagrees with claims put forward by some pro-Beijing figures that Hong Kong should integrate more with the mainland, so as to retain competitiveness.
"We are worried about our future. Not about how good we are at merging or integrating with mainland China," he said.
"But about how we are losing our precious competitive advantages we have been so proud of, such as the respect of the rule of law, transparent government, the freedom of speech and the press, and anti-corruption measures."
