The Secretary for Justice, Rimsky Yuen, on Thursday defended plans to share the boundary control facilities for the express rail link between Hong Kong and Guangzhou with the mainland. He said such an arrangement was in line with the Basic Law.
Yuen will discuss the matter again with officials at the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office in Beijing on Saturday.
He said officials will be studying in detail how the plan can be worked out.
Critics have said that allowing mainland law enforcement officers to operate at a boundary control point in Hong Kong would harm the One Country, Two Systems principle.
