Hong Kong and China struggled to a scoreless draw in Mong Kok tonight in a stadium where noisy groups of fans showed little love for visitors from across the border.
In the closing stages of the game, Hong Kong withstood intense pressure, holding off attacks mounted by China.
But, in earlier exchanges, the home side and the mainlanders did test each other with strikes at goal in each half in the Group C World Cup qualifier. One goal by Hong Kong was disallowed and other strikes by both teams hit the woodwork.
Group C leader Qatar, meanwhile beat Bhutan 3-0 in their game.
