Pan-democratic members of the Legislative Council have asked the administration to arrange a special meeting of the House Committee to discuss immigration arrangements for the high-speed rail link to Guangzhou.

The camp's spokeswoman Cyd Ho said it could be a grave infringement of One Country, Two Systems if mainland law enforcement officers were allowed to operate on Hong Kong soil. She said she hoped it would give answers that the administration had so far been unable to provide.

"We represent a lot of Hong Kong people to express this concern. Of course it's up to the administration to decide whether it would hold itself accountable to the public. I hope it will," she said.

The pan-democrats met the Chief Secretary on Friday morning, who was hoping to broker an agreement on the priority of bills being discussed in the council – to clear a backlog. Ho had previously described the attempt as "cosmetic" – and she said her opinion hadn't changed after the meeting.
