The chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, Mr Justice Barnabas Fung, says the commission has received about 300 complaints concerning the District Council election as of 9am on Sunday.

Most were about candidates' publicity materials, and around 50 related to canvassing. Fung said the cases will be dealt with as soon as possible.

He said he had inspected several polling stations and found that the vote was going smoothly.

Fung would not make any prediction on the final voter turnout, which was about 41 percent in the 2011 district council poll.

So far turnout rates are higher than in the 2011 election.
