Emily Lau speaks to RTHK's Yvonne Lou
The pan-democratic camp is calling on voters not to elect pro-Beijing candidates in the upcoming District Council elections. They say doing so would pave the way for the re-election of CY Leung as chief executive in 2017.
Next year, 117 from the total of 431 district councilors will be members of the chief executive election committee.
The chairwoman of the Democratic Party, Emily Lau, said if supporters of Leung win seats in the District Councils, they might get into the election committee and rally support for him and his administration in the districts.
She reminded voters to turn out to vote on November 22, and said if they are unhappy with Leung’s administration they should think carefully about who they should support.
