State media are reporting that one of the missing Causeway Bay booksellers, Gui Min-hai, turned himself over to mainland security officials in October. Mr Gui was reported missing in October after he disappeared while in Thailand.

Xinhua said Mr Gui was involved in a fatal car accident in Ningbo 12 years ago, in which a girl was killed. It said he was given a suspended two-year prison sentence, but fled while on probation. The report said Mr Gui - who is a Swedish national - decided to turn himself in after his father has passed away in June last year.

Mr Gui is one of five men linked to the Causeway Bay Bookstore - which sold titles critical of Beijing - who have disappeared over the past months. There have been suggestions that at least one of them, Lee Bo, may have been abducted from Hong Kong by state security officials.

Last Sunday thousands of people marched to the Beijing Liaison office to demand answers over the men's disappearance.
