Officer pleads guilty to one count of indecent assault and two counts of intercourse with a girl under 16

A policeman had sex with a 13-year-old friend of his son’s while his wife was pregnant with their third child, the officer admitted in court today.
Police constable Wong Wai-hung, 39, drove the girl – whom his son did school projects and played badminton with – to a flat on March 17, the officer’s birthday, last year for sex, the High Court heard.
He also molested the girl on two other occasions.
He pleaded guilty to one count of indecent assault and two counts of intercourse with a girl under 16. The girl’s identity was not revealed in court for legal reasons.
Judge Madam Justice Maggie Poon Man-kay, after convicting Wong, noted: “The wife was still pregnant when he was texting with the young girl, and she was about to give birth.”
She added: “He was a serving police officer and the girl was his son’s friend. Why did he allow it to happen?”
The court heard that on the day, Wong had sex with the girl without a condom.
A piece of tissue bearing a blood stain from the girl was later retrieved from the officer’s locker at Tin Shui Wai Police Station.
He first molested the girl on January 17 last year, when he kissed her and touched her breasts after driving her to a remote place after school. He was supposed to be giving her a lift home.
A month later, on February 25, he molested her again inside the flat and attempted sexual intercourse.
Poon ordered a report assessing the impact the ordeal had taken on the victim. She also ordered several reports studying the policeman’s psychiatric and psychological status, as well as his background, since he had failed to explain why he committed the offence.
Wong will be sentenced on February 15.
