A one-month old baby was pronounced dead on Sunday after suddenly falling unconscious after being fed, reports Ming Pao.

A police investigation shows that the baby suffocated after feeding, possibly because he wasn’t burped, reports The Sun.

The baby was the youngest of a part-time clerk’s three children, who have different Indonesian mothers.

According to the man’s mother, who is surnamed So, he had his first daughter seven years ago. When his daughter’s mother ran away from home, So started taking care of the girl in his mother’s apartment in Tsz Ching Estate in Tsz Wan Shan.

A month ago the man brought home two newborn boys – fathered with two different women – and told So to take care of them. He then disappeared.

So said that her son lives a sexually active, irresponsible life, leaving all three of his children with her without providing any support whatsoever.

So says she thus has to work as a cleaner to support herself and the children, but persists through the struggle as she doesn’t wish for the kids to be abandoned.

This incident has led to renewed discussion about the struggle the elderly face while acting as caretakers for their grandchildren.
