More than a hundred medical graduates from The University of Hong Kong have called on Leong Che-hung, the Chairman of the university's council, to put the appointment of a pro-vice-chancellor back onto the table as soon as possible.
Stephen Ng, one of the doctors who initiated the petition, said the delay is already a blow to the school's daily operation.
He also added that if the council continues to dodge the issue, it would cause speculation that there is a hidden agenda behind the appointment.
The council has decided to put the appointment on hold until a successor to the previous provost, Roland Chin, has been found. Professor Chin will take up the post of president at Hong Kong Baptist University later this year.
