A bar manager attacked a Russian customer with a knife when the latter refused to leave after closing time.
The incident took place early Monday morning in Causeway Bay, Apple Daily reports.
The 33-year-old Russian, an IT professional identified only as Alexander, had gone to the bar in Yiu Wa Street with about 20 friends on Sunday night.
But by the 3 a.m. closing time, he and two others had stayed behind and kept drinking.
Two hours later, a waiter approached them and asked them to pay and leave.
When they refused, the 28-year-old bar manager, surnamed Au, intervened.
The group got into an argument with Au who whipped out a 10-inch fruit knife, slashing Alexander’s left ear and fingers.
Au chased Alexander as the Russian fled the bar, going around parked vehicles as he pressed the attack, according to witnesses.
“Come on! Get out!” Au yelled at Alexander who had hid under a van. Au turned his anger on the vehicle, stabbing it several times.
Au was arrested while Alexander was taken to a hospital.
