100Most, a local satirical magazine, has invited Civic Party legislator James Tien Pei-chun to be its Facebook administrator, after he made several sarcastic posts on social media recently, Apple Daily reported Friday.
The Chinese-language weekly said on Facebook that Tien has been very good at getting attention and likes for his Facebook posts and joked that all its staff are as dumb as pigs, who can work with Tien to do something big.
As to remuneration, 100Most said it is confident that once Tien says yes, it will have the money to pay his salary.
100Most even called for the help of Tien’s younger brother, Michael, a legislator from the New People’s Party, in contacting James.
Michael responded on Facebook on Wednesday evening to 100Most, saying the magazine should have his brother’s phone number if it wants to contact him.
However, Michael said, he wasn’t sure if James would hear the phone ring, now that he is in a hot kitchen in Hawaii.
On Thursday, James replied to 100Most directly on Facebook, asking if “the pay would be higher than that of Lau Wah?”, which is open to interpretation.
He might have been referring to pop superstar Andy Lau Tak-wah or, more likely, newly appointed Secretary for Home Affairs Ray Lau Kong-wah, who will pocket nearly HK$300,000 a month now that he has replaced Tsang Tak-sing in that position.
100Most concluded the Facebook conversation by saying that the Tien brothers deserved a big thumbs-up for their great sense of humor.
Some netizens speculated that the Tien brothers might have hired young and innovative editors to manage their Facebook accounts, helping them to be more social-media-friendly.
Some others kindly reminded Michael that his G2000 retail business might be in jeopardy if his online comments go too far.
