About a dozen alumni and students of Lingnan University held a protest before a governing council meeting – calling for a task force to review the university's governance.
The protesters said the task force should comprise students, staff and alumni and look at whether the Hong Kong Chief Executive should be the school's chancellor by default, with the power to directly appoint council members.
Attending their initial meeting on Tuesday were former president of the Law Society, Junius Ho, and lawyer Maggie Chan – whose appointments to the council attracted criticism as some allege they were rewarded with council seats for backing the government position during the Occupy Movement.
