The Professional Commons have urged the SAR government to ensure the safety of two nuclear reactors in Taishan, which are located about a hundred kilometers away from Hong Kong.
The power plants in Guangdong province, which use European Pressurised Reactor (EPR) technology, is expected to come into operation next year.
French experts said last year that their study indicated a possible flaw in the EPR technology that could lead to a radioactive leak.
Lawmaker Kenneth Leung, warned of dire consequences to Hong Kong if accidents occur there and called on the local government to discuss with mainland officials over the plant's safety.
