Ken Tsang's injuries after his beating

Seven police officers, none of which have been identified, have been arrested for “assault occasioning actual bodily harm”.

On Oct. 15, the seven men were shown on film appearing to be beating a handcuffed man in a secluded corner during the violent clearing of the tunnel on Lung Wo Road. The victim was later identified as social worker and Civic Party Member Ken Tsang.

The seven officers were soon aftersuspended. Police now say the investigation is ongoing and that there will be no delay in the handling of the case.

The police also said that the complainant failed to show up at an identification parade planned for yesterday.

According to the police, some members of the public claimed that if the case is mishandled, they would “commit uncooperative acts to affect the service of police stations”. They called such acts a display of a “lack of civic-mindedness and selfishness”.

A release also stated that “if any Force member commits illegal acts, Police will handle this seriously and investigation will be conducted in a fair and impartial manner”.
