Govt 'must stop provoking pan-dems': Mok

19-07-2015

Legislator Charles Mok. File photo. The government has been urged to stop "provoking" pan-democratic legislators by trying to force them to approve a proposed new innovation and technology bureau.

The bureau has been delayed yet again after discussions in Legco were adjourned on Saturday for the summer break.

Lawmaker Charles Mok, who represents the information and technology sector, said the administration had disregarded established norms in the proceedings of the council, and some pan-dems had responded by filibustering.

Speaking on RTHK's Letter to Hong Kong, Mr Mok said the proposed bureau should not have become the subject of a political struggle between the two sides.

"Let us put an end to all the finger-pointing and actually get some work done right away. The administration surely can, and must, resolve the current impasse and put an end to filibusters and confrontations," Mr Mok said.
