Helena Wong talks to RTHK’s Wendy Wong
The Democratic Party has called for a long-term tendering ban on four contractors whom have been linked to the tainted tap water scandal.
The Housing Authority did not consider bids from the four contractors when they awarded five bids earlier this month. Reports later indicated that the contractors would face an one month ban per project where water contamination was found.
Excessive levels of lead have been found in the drinking water at eleven public housing estates.
The Democratic Party said a survey they ran found that one-third of the respondents think the companies that built the public housing estates should bear the greatest responsibility for the problem.
Lawmaker Helena Wong told RTHK’s Wendy Wong a heavy penalty is needed to prevent similar problems from happening again.
