People Power lawmakers Raymond Chan and Albert Chan said on Thursday that they have been barred from accessing documents in the archives of the Legislative Council relating to the financial arrangements that were made for the construction of Hong Kong International Airport.
They said they had put in a request with the council's secretariat in March last year. But the secretariat said it had to seek legal advice before making a decision.
The lawmakers said they needed the information to study the government's proposal for constructing a third runway.
Albert Chan said it was "totally absurd" for lawmakers to be deprived of their right. He urged the council's president, Tsang Yok-sing, to look into the matter.
