Queen Elizabeth Hospital has apologised after it was reported that prominent pro-establishment legislator Tam Yiu-chung was given privileged treatment when he underwent minor surgery there on Tuesday.
Staff were accused of letting Tam, a former chairman of the DAB, jump the queue and allowing his wife into the operating theatre.
The matter came to light in an anonymous posting on a Facebook group for public hospital staff. Tam said he was sorry for causing any inconvenience.
A hospital spokesman said the department head was unaware of the arrangement made by the staff, but conceded that it was inappropriate. He said they will follow up on the matter.
