Microsoft delays Xbox One console launch in China
Microsoft Corp. has put off the launch of its Xbox One game console in China, which had been scheduled for release on Tuesday.
The company said in a statement Sunday that the console will be out in China by the end of the year, Reuters reported.
Microsoft did not give a reason for the delay of the launch in the world’s third-biggest gaming market.
But it represents the latest in a series of setbacks for the US tech giant in China, where it is under investigation for suspected anti-trust violations related to the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office, the report noted.
China lifted a 14-year ban on gaming consoles earlier this year. Microsoft had reached a deal with internet TV set-top box maker BesTV New Media Co. Ltd. (600637.CN) to form a joint venture to manufacture the consoles in Shanghai’s Free Trade Zone a year ago.
