More free trade zones in offing

The State Council may restart the approval process on setting up the Tianjin Free Trade Zone, after listening to the first annual report from the Shanghai Free Trade Zone during the October 1 National Day.
Li Jinhui, director of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Innovation & Entrepreneurship Centre, told local media at the Davos Forum that his city is more likely this time to get the green light to set up a free trade zone.

Guangdong also applied earlier to establish its own free trade zone, while Anhui plans to set up a pilot scheme, and wants its provincial capital, Hefei, and two other cities Wuhu and Maanshan to offer preferable tax and supervising policies.

Sources in the Hefei Commercial Department said Anhui wants to build the zone as an important cargo port in the Yangtze River region, specializing in international logistics and manufacturing.
The State Council has said it supports regional governments in exploring the establishment of free trade zones or harbors.

The Shanghai FTZ kicked off on September 29 last year.
