Rail projects still not enough: Tien

The chairman of LegCo's Railways Sub-committee, Michael Tien, says a government proposal to build seven railway projects in phases from 2018 to 2026 won't be able to meet future passenger growth.
He said the proposal, costing more than HK$110 billion, had failed to take into account future passenger growth arising from the proposed third runway and the completion of the cross-border bridge.
He said additional passenger inflow from the runway and the bridge would put intense pressure on the West Rail Line which had already reached full capacity during peak hours.
