Students say they're confident that applications to hold rallies at Tamar Park and the Legislative Council building will be approved.

On Monday, university students will start a one-week boycott of classes to protest against Beijing's conservative framework for political reform in Hong Kong.

Tommy Cheung, president of the Chinese University's Student Union and a Standing Committee member of the Federation of Students said the only obstacle at the moment was insurance.

Separately, Leticia Lee, president of the Hong Kong Parents Association, says her group will oppose the boycotts and possibly take action on Wednesday to express parents' concern.

She said they would reveal details of their action on Monday.
