The new Secretary for Home Affairs, Lau Kong-wah, and his former boss, the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Raymond Tam, are both tight-lipped about the reasons behind Tuesday's sudden resignation of two ministers.
Newspaper reports said Mr Lau's predecessor, Tsang Tak-sing, and civil service chief Paul Tang were sacked because of poor performance.
Mr Lau declined to comment on the reason for his predecessor's departure.
