Ahead of the one-year anniversary of the Occupy Central movement on September 28, a large banner bearing the words “I Want Genuine Universal Suffrage” was hung on a bridge connecting the government headquarters and Admiralty Centre.
League of Social Democrats member Tsang Kin-shing, better known as “the Bull”, said that he and several fellow activists hung the banner on Sunday morning, September 20th, to commemorate the anniversary of the pro-democracy demonstration, which has often been called the Umbrella Movement.
The purpose was to remind Hongkongers of the efforts they made during the movement, he said.
The banner was removed by the police shortly after it was hung. No one was arrested.
