Hong Kong leader Leung Chun-ying says his Facebook account has been hacked after pictures of scantily-clad young female models appeared on his list of friends.
If true, Leung’s claim would make him one of the first heads of government to have their Facebook account hacked and will pile pressure on the social networking giant to explain what would be an embarrassing security breach in one of their most important and heavily used global markets.
A spokesman for the Chief Executive’s office said: “The Chief Executive’s Facebook page was suspected to have been hacked on the afternoon of December 24”.
The hacking claim comes just months after Facebook upped security and promised to send account users who have been hacked a message alerting them to that fact. It is unclear if Leung received such a message.
