A new passenger concourse at Hong Kong International Airport has opened quietly on schedule today, as only one flight departed from the 10 billion dollar building.
The "I" shape Midfield Concourse provides an extra 19 air-bridges, adding to the 59 in the main terminal and North Satellite Concourse.
This will reduce the number of passengers needing to take buses to planes parked on remote parts of the tarmac.
Ng Chi-kee, an Airport Authority executive director, said the Midfield Concourse will be "operating at full capacity by March", as it's usage gradually increases over the next few months.
