Glacier Kwong talks to RTHK's Janice Wong
An activist group that advocates internet freedom, Keyboard Frontline, said on Friday that most of the internet community is happy that the debate on the Copyright (Amendment) Bill in the Legislative Council has been delayed again.
The group's spokesperson, Glacier Kwong, said it showed that lawmakers were listening to their concerns.
Kwong also welcomed Labour Party lawmaker Cyd Ho's suggestion to set up a select commitee to allow a more in-depth discussion on the bill. She said this will help avoid disruption of the work of the council.
The second reading of the bill ended abruptly on Thursday when the council found itself without a minimum quorum. It was the second time this has happened.
Pro-democracy legislators have been calling for more exemptions on memes and derivative works to ensure netizens will not be easily prosecuted.
