Around 50 people have marched to Government House. They want a universal retirement scheme for Hong Kong, which they claim the Chief Executive CY Leung had promised as part of his election campaign.
The protesters questioned how the government could spend billions of dollars on infrastructure, but not commit itself to pensions for all.
One of those taking part - League of Social Democrats legislator Leung Kwok-hung - said the administration was being hypocritical.
He suggested officials had been quick to praise motherhood as Sunday was Mother’s Day. But when it came to pensions, they turned their backs on the elderly.
Officials say a universal retirement scheme would push the government into deficit and lead to higher taxes. The government's public consultation on retirement protection ends on June 21.
