The leader of the Civic Party, lawmaker Alan Leong, said on Wednesday that visiting state leader Zhang Dejiang had brushed aside pan-democratic lawmakers' criticisms of the Chief Executive CY Leung during an informal meeting with them.
He said Zhang also did not respond directly to questions about Hong Kong's future political development.
The four pan-democratic legislators who attended the meeting with Zhang were asking for universal suffrage and a new chief executive. Leong said he did not hear anything substantial from Zhang.
But he said Zhang told them that there will be a solution in future for pan-democrats who cannot enter the mainland. Some of them have had their home return permits confiscated or invalidated for many years because of their political stance.
