Student activists Joshua Wong and Nathan Law have been charged with obstructing police officers during a protest last June against Beijing`s White Paper on One Country, Two Systems principle.
Mr Law, who is the Secretary General of the Federation of Students, said police charged them when they turned up at the Western police station on Tuesday afternoon.
He said officers showed them a video of the protest on that day, and did not elaborate.
The two are expected to appear in the Eastern Magistracy on Friday morning.
