The Secretary for Education, Eddie Ng, says nearly 900 kindergartens have asked the government to test their tap water for lead.
This came after excessive amounts of the heavy metal were found in drinking water at several schools, as well as a number of public housing estates.
Ng said the checks will be carried out at the kindergartens as soon as next week.
