An Eastern Court magistrate has upheld a 150 hour community service order imposed on a teenager who stormed the Legislative Council building during the Occupy protests last year.
Cheng Yeung had earlier pleaded guilty to charges of criminal damage and taking part in an unlawful assembly. But the Department of Justice asked for a review of the sentence saying it was too light.
The magistrate said the defendant had expressed remorse and had paid the price by having been remanded in custody for two weeks before he was sentenced.
Three others who committed similar offences were jailed for three-and-a half months after a review of their sentences.
