Jane Lau talks to RTHK's Nathalie Leung
The government is being urged to build playgrounds for children that are more accessible and attractive to children.
Unicef Hong Kong and Playright Children's Play Association said play is vital to children's growth, and playgrounds provide space for their development and interaction with others.
Research by Playright found that play areas in some parks were not attractive enough for children, and they ended up playing in nearby gardens. So the play area in the parks lie vacant and unused.
The chief executive of Unicef Hong Kong, Jane Lau, said better playgrounds can benefit a society's future.
