League of Social Democrats lawmaker Leung Kwok-hung has called for an end to one-party rule on the mainland, and for all political prisoners to be freed.
Speaking on RTHK's "Letter to Hong Kong", he said last week's military parade in Beijing to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War should have been used to remember the sacrifices made by the people to build a just society. But he said the Communist Party does everything but that.
"This lavishing act of the Communist Party of China government is in fact to glorify its new master Xi Jinping and to fan the fire for its so called ‘China dream’. But to political prisoners, in particular human rights dissidents, it is a recurring nightmare. Under the suppression of one-party dictatorship the phantom of fascism is reincarnated, coming back to life in the cloak of (the) Peoples’ Republic", he said.
